Floor cleaning tips
1. Use microfiber and ditch the cleaning solution.
2. If you must use solution, make your own with half a cup of white vinegar added to half a gallon of hot water. Vinegar disinfects and even acts as an ant deterrent.
3. Start in the cleanest area first. Aim to finish at a door so you can escape from the housework and have a quick sit-down while the floor dries.
4. Clean your
microfiber mop pad fairly often. Wash it quickly with a little dish soap and then rinse, rinse, rinse and squeeze out the excess water. Wood and laminate floors do not like water so get your mop pad as dry as you can.
5. Wear latex gloves to save your hands and to give a good grip on the mop. Remember to
mop your tracked footprints.
6. If you are in a rush and can't keep going to a sink to wash the mop pad, then either: have a couple of spare, clean refills to hand OR use a rubber brush to scrape of the worst of the fluff, dust and lint into a trash bin.
7. Throw your used mop pads into the washer but make sure you don't use fabric softener or it will clog up the fibers and make it worse than useless. Same goes for any
microfiber cleaning rag.
